Zoltan HosszuPersonal

I’m 26 years old and I live in Budapest, the capital of Hungary. I currently study management and marketing at the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. Phew that’s a long name for a school.. I’m only about half a year from graduating and I plan to continue working on web projects after I’ve got my degree, because I find the opportunities and idea of the web fascinating. In my spare time I enjoy movies, fine food, reading stuff online and offline.

Work

I’ve been creating websites since I started high school, so I started to dig my way deep into user experience and design more than 10 years ago. It was only a hobby until I got a little older: I’ve been taking design seriously since I was about 19 years old and I keep learning new things every day ever since. In all my work I try to create aesthetic and usable things so when it comes to website designing I’m proud to say that I create pixel perfect web design. I believe it is an art, but I do not see myself a self centered artist, and my clients don’t think of me that way either (at least I really hope so!). If you would like to work with a creative designer, who creates pixel perfect web design and is ready to satisfy your design expectations, feel free to contact me using this form to the right.

About this website

I’ve started redesigning my old portfolio website in the Autumn of 2010 but the first drafts were too “out of the box” designs, they were not usable at all. I started drawing with my Wacom tablet and I came up with this outside scenery where I’m sitting on a blanket in the park with my Macbook Pro (which I didn’t yet own back then). The main idea was to create a horizontal scrolling website, where there would be trees and grass and hills and a lake all around. You can check out the finished parts here. I showed it to a couple of people and I received good feedback on but I was still struggling with usability issues. Then I talked to some experts and they all advised that I create a more usual portfolio. I couldn’t bear of just throwing all the work I put into the drawn version so I decided that I’m gonna use some parts of it, and after some refinements and long hours of work here is the final version. I still wanted to keep it a little fun while being professional so I’ve hidden a couple of easter eggs around page, good luck finding them! Fun facts about the site:

  • I’ve designed it on my Macbook Pro in Photoshop and used Coda for sitebuilding and Transmit for FTP
  • The original PSD version is 20 megabytes and contains more than 320 layers
  • The website is running on a WordPress engine, the coding took a couple of days
  • There are easter eggs hidden around the site
  • Some nice icons from the iconSweets 2 pack were used
  • The smileys are from the Wordmotes pack
